How do we bid on freelancer's sites?
@Memj How can you even give a general bid if you don't know the details?

Is it unprofessional to approach a business, unsolicited, based upon technical problems you see on their website?
@code_onkel I knew what you meant. Thanks. It was the most constructive. I probably would have given an edge to Wildcard, but you beat him/her to it.

@Strawberry That was what I thought too. I get cold calls, so I figured it couldn't be that wrong.

Why am I not getting hired on UpWork/oDesk?

Cold calls and corporations
If it is a big corporation, they usually want more than one guy. If you get run over or the site blows up, what would the Manager say? They'd be strung up for picking A) letting the site get to a decrepit state and B) letting one guy do it instead of a company. It just sounds bad. May be or not be smart but true.

How many hours can one freelance in programming part-time and still provide a good product?
@user3629249 That last sentence I have experienced many, many times. It never ends.
